We are seeking a seasoned Water and Sanitation Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and implementation of high-impact WASH projects in Nairobi and surrounding regions. You will collaborate with governments, NGOs, and local partners to deliver reliable water supply, wastewater management, and sanitation facilities while ensuring quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Responsibility

  • Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of WASH projects, including water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion campaigns.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk registers; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely and compliant project execution.
  • Ensure projects meet environmental, health, safety, and quality standards, including risk assessments and M&E requirements.
  • Oversee data collection, monitoring, and reporting to stakeholders; drive data-driven improvements across programs.
  • Support fundraising and grant reporting through accurate technical proposals and performance dashboards.
  • Provide technical mentorship to field teams and build capacity of local partners for sustainable operation and maintenance.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH project design and implementation, preferably in East Africa.
  • Strong knowledge of WASH standards and guidelines (WHO/UNICEF, SPHERE, local regulatory frameworks).
  • Proven experience in project management, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement across multi-donor programs.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, monitoring & evaluation, and basic GIS tools; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to collaborate with diverse partners and communities.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and operate in varied field conditions with resilience and adaptability.
  • Eligibility to work in Kenya (Kenyan work permit preferred).
