Job description
At AquaGuard Solutions, we are seeking a skilled Water and Sanitation Specialist to lead WASH initiatives in Nairobi, Kenya. This role drives sustainable water supply projects, sanitation improvements, and hygiene promotion in urban and peri-urban communities. You will collaborate with government, NGOs, and community groups to design, implement, and monitor programs that improve access to safe water and reliable sanitation services.
The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, data driven decision making, and a passion for public health impact.
Responsibility
- Lead end to end planning, design, and rollout of water and sanitation projects in target communities.
- Develop project charters, work plans, budgets, and performance indicators.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders to ensure smooth implementation and buy in.
- Oversee data collection, monitoring, and reporting on water quality, service delivery, and sanitation outcomes.
- Design and deliver community hygiene promotion and behavior change campaigns.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Build capacity of local staff and partners through training and mentoring.
- Generate insights to influence policy and scale successful interventions.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, Public Health, Sanitation Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years in water and sanitation projects, preferably in low-resource settings
- Proven experience with WASH program design, implementation, and monitoring
- Strong data analysis skills and experience with M&E frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities in English
- Knowledge of GIS and water quality testing methods
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with diverse teams
- Willingness to travel to field sites and work in challenging environments
