Join Aquaforge Global, a leading water and sanitation solutions provider delivering sustainable, life-changing projects across East Africa. We are seeking a results-driven Water & Sanitation Engineer to lead design, implementation, and oversight of municipal and community WASH initiatives in Nairobi and surrounding regions.
In this role, you will collaborate with government, donors, and communities to deliver safe water, improved sanitation, and resilient infrastructure that enhances public health and livelihoods.
Responsibility
- Lead design, engineering, and delivery of water supply, wastewater, and sanitation projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, hydraulic modeling, and system design.
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan standards and environmental regulations; review permits and approvals.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and change control; monitor progress and risk.
- Lead field supervision, quality assurance, and contractor oversight on-site.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, communities, and government agencies; lead community engagement and participatory planning.
- Prepare donor reports, technical briefs, and facilitate smooth handover to operations teams.
- Develop operation and maintenance plans and provide capacity-building support to client teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on WASH project experience, including water supply and sanitation systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent; registration in Kenya preferred.
- Proficiency with hydraulic modeling (EPANET), GIS, AutoCAD; data analysis and technical report writing.
- Experience with donor-funded projects (World Bank, DFID, USAID, NGOs) and donor reporting requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills; ability to work across teams and communities.
- Fluency in English; Kiswahili is a plus and willingness to travel to field sites.
- Ability to travel domestically; valid driver's license and willingness to work in field conditions.
